Though change is inevitable in life, I may not always welcome it. The good news is I can change my thoughts about change! If I am feeling unsettled about a new situation, I can soften my resistance by looking for hidden gems in the unfolding experience.

Like a child digging in the sand for buried treasure, I search beyond appearances until I find gold. I see change as an opportunity for greater understanding and spiritual growth.

With practice, I welcome change as the catalyst for discovering the kingdom of God within me. I look for gold, look for good, and look for God in every person and every unfolding situation. I am open to the blessings of change.

I love this book “Letters To A Young Poet”. I got it years ago and it sat on my shelf…held onto it through all my moves (i wasn’t ready to read it)…and then, as if time decided for me I was ready, it randomly arrived in the mail from a great friend of mine…Rilke says, in reference to Creativity, “Everything is gestation and then birthing. To let each impression and each embryo of a feeling come to completion, entirely in itself, in the dark, in the unsayable, the unconscious, beyond the reach of one’s own understanding, and with the deep humility and patience to wait for the hour when a new clarity is born: this alone is what it means to live as an artist: in understanding as in creating.

In this there is no measuring with time, a year doesn’t matter, and ten years are nothing. Being an artist means: not numbering and counting, but ripening like a tree, which does not force it’s sap, and stands confidently in the storms of spring, not afraid that afterward summer may not come. It does come…”
